Grow New Businesses
I will streamline the licensing process and modernize how small businesses engage the Secretary of State’s office.
Creating More Small Businesses
The Secretary of State’s office is the gateway for new businesses in Georgia. As Secretary of State, I will work with the Labor Commissioner, the head of the Department of Technical and Adult Education and the Economic Development Authority to encourage retraining workers to become licensed in growing professions. Small businesses are the backbone of Georgia, and government must work together to help turn our economy around.
Cutting through Red-Tape
As Secretary of State, I will convene a blue-ribbon panel of practitioners across our state’s 36 licensing boards and 197 types of licenses to identify ways we can streamline the licensing process. Each year, the General Assembly receives piecemeal changes brought by advocates and lobbyists for a particular group. The Secretary of State must take the lead to make sure that the laws match our intent: to make business work in Georgia.
